Forgot to Mention.. I’m on Facebook!

•November 8, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Only after someone from school contacted me about a WordPress question, I then remembered my old stomping grounds: WordPress. Well the constant “your into computers without even a facebook?” comments got to me. I am on a real contact site for business called LinkedIn, but that doesn’t make you cool.. 😦

So here I am: Bradley’s Facebook! I only have around 30 +/- friends, and that doesn’t bother me. I don’t add my friend’s sister’s sister just so I can see their pictures. I use it for friends I have or had talked to recently or reoccurring, old co workers I talked with to get the day over faster, etc. So if you see me and want to add me, please do. Just don’t get your region support garments in a twist if you never see me on your friends list.

P.S. – I’m sure I will still use WordPress for other uses. WordPress is a super cool service, and it has been awesome to me since their .com was in beta (f!ck i’m old). 🙂

Own a Piece of Atari Arcade History

•July 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

In helping a family friend move, I received an old piece of atari arcade history. It is really cool, but I don’t need it. It is a arcade marquee, the glass you would see lighted up above the arcade game screen. It is from the game “Gravitar” back in 1982! Go here & BID: eBay!

Just What I Need.. A Deep Fryer

I helped a friend of the family move. My mom brought up me cooking more, and got into fried prawns, chicken, and zucchini. So in turn I received a brand new never used 4 liter, 3 tray deep fryer. This thing retailed around eighty bucks. Good pickup. Yet I do have this weight issue & we all know things frying in canola oil is uber “healthy”.

Well sort of. Going through my filing cabinet I found a letter from the white house. When I was eleven, in class we all wrote to the president, and received replies. So here it is:

I Say Hello to the iPad, it Writes Back!

Got a hold of the iPad 16GB Wifi + 3G. Really fun “toy” (hate having to call it that). The reports about it being so easy to pick up during hours your suppose to be asleep is true. I had to put the iPad stand in my book case, make it harder for me to get up and get it half-asleep.

Screw Furry Sexist Servers! Let’s Play a New (OK OLD) Game!

So after now finding I could of been platinum during the TF2 beta, I just bought Team Fortress 2. My first thought after working on the achievements, I shouldn’t have waited! I got mad after multiple times of missing it on sale, I waited. My friend Patrick (Rognok) convinced me to get it (no patrick not the low low price of $19.99, its still @*#& $20 in my mind). Never pinch pennies, I learned the hard way. This game yet aged is kick @$$!

Funny, yet it gets better!

CONFIRMED this is why they call it a zoo, or a farm!

Kick ass menu music. Too bad you can’t change it
without the game failing to launch!

It’s Here : Steam Client & Free Portal for Mac / Win!

Well it has arrived. After much wait (last 3 weeks most people knew it looks like the windows version) it has arrived. All you 100% mac hate windows with a passion people can actually game. I mean like, real gaming…

For the fun of it I went ahead and set my OSX side to the same graphic options as my Windows side. Here we go, my take :

1. OpenGL isn’t as polished as DirectX. Now I super wish this wasn’t the case, but OpenGL hasn’t been mainstream since Voodoo cards died. Also, DirectX had a company called Microsoft making what it is today. In Portal the textures and sprites just don’t “pop”. They are bland, but you can’t fault OpenGL development via community vs. private DirectX & $$$,$$$,$$$. I still love OpenGL for that “Open” part.

2. Same settings on both operating systems and OSX is a bit sluggish. In these simple net graph tests it loves to lock to either 60fps or 30fps. This worries me as it can be a sign of software rendering. All my drivers mac side are up to date. Now the layers of like core image, video, etc; They like to make things fluid no matter the situation. This might explain the ZERO 31-59fps holding fps transition in-between the game.

All in all this is a great step. Apple has adopted Intel’s and Nvidia’s guts, and those guts have been doing gaming way over a decade.  Note I am on 10.6.2 and been lazy to do 10.6.3. Steam warned me of this before playing, but I didn’t see news of an update to video drivers or the OpenGL library. I doubt this had much to do with my review, if I am wrong please comment. Also my computer specs are around here. 😉

**Update: One plus for the OSX(mac) side. I remember portal for windows on the first load of new levels took a bit of time. On the mac it was a snap. I do believe the HFS+ over NTFS format helps in this regard.
